Pernille Teisbaek's Guide to Copenhagen

Mar 17, 2019

It's no secret that Copenhagen has become fashion's new favorite city. With that sudden rise to stardom has come a new crop of homegrown designers, from Ganni and Stine Goya to Munthe and Baum Und Pferdgarten, and influencers who have put the capital's signature aesthetic on a global stage. And no one does that better than Pernille Teisbaek.

An OG influencer with over 15 years in the industry, Pernille is ultimate Danish It girl. She's built a career as a blogger-turned-stylist and fashion expert thanks to, as she describes it, her "classic and comfortable style with a moden twist." A fan of the statement coat, a tailored blazer and a good pair of jeans, Pernille embodies the ease-with-an-edge that Copenhagen has become so well-known for. But how exactly does one achieve that Scandinavian cool? Pernille says it's as simple as "making a look more personal by adding your favorite jewelry," "adding colorful accessories to simple classics" and playing with contrasts, like adding "a masculine touch to a feminine dress." Really, it's all about balance.

But Pernille isn't just a style pro. As someone who was born and raised in Copenhagen, she knows the ins and outs of where to go and what to do. "I think it's the holistic experience," she says of the city's appeal. "It's a combination of the amazing food, the interesting architecture and the cool street style."

Here, Teisbaek shares her favorite spots around the city.

For coffee: "I often go to Granola at Værnedamsvej. They serve a really good coffee."

For drinks: "They have a great Aperol Spritz at Pluto, where you'll find an amazing atmosphere on a casual Monday night."

For shopping: "I go to Beau Marché to find pieces for my home and Storm, Birger Christensen and Holly Golightly to find inspiration for my wardrobe."

For dinner: "Mangia makes the best Italian pasta, Pluto has the beset waffle with caviar and Apollo is great if you're into organic wine."

For family time: "I love to bring my kids to Joe & The Juice, where they can get a healthy green smoothie. Afterwards, they enjoy going to the Copenhagen Zoo, where they can play around and learn more about the animals."
