Whether you’re in sunny Los Angeles or are part of the New York City grind, it’s pretty easy to tell who lives where based on what they’re wearing. However, one brand—A.L.C.—founded by Andrea Lieberman has mastered the task of catering to women in any city. Her collection is the perfect blend of L.A. ease, infused with the edgy sensibilities of NYC.
Originally hailing from Panama, style expert and blogger, @PamHetlinger spends most of her time traveling. While she currently calls Los Angeles home, she spends plenty of time on the opposite coast, for work, fun and of course, play. “In L.A. , everything is more laid back, so my style is definitely more relaxed. When I’m in New York, I love trying new trends, dressing up a bit more and wearing more trendy pieces!” she explains.
We tapped into Pam to learn more about her style secrets for the ultimate East Coast vs. West Coast fashion face-off, featuring her favorite pieces from A.L.C. Keep scrolling to see what she had to say.
Boasting a super mild climate and barely any rain, Los Angeles is the epicenter of laid back-cool. But keeping it casual doesn’t mean wearing a Juicy tracksuit and flip-flops—it’s easy to look polished and comfortable in a versatile dress, like this jewel-toned A.L.C. option.
“I decided to create a monochromatic vibe by styling the dress with a bag of a similar color, but a different texture,” explains Pam. “This is something that I do all the time if I want to achieve a monochromatic look without being too matchy-matchy.”
Up the ante by wearing one head-to-toe color, but “don’t be afraid to mix different fabrics, patterns and textures!” adds Pam. “As for the accessories, I decided to add black earrings and black suede heels for night-time.” See below for where Pam hangs when she’s in her current hometown.

Running through New York City can be exhausting, but in the city that never sleeps, you need to look the part. “When styling a look like this, it’s important to keep everything else pretty simple as the suit is the statement piece here,” she explains. “I added some chic white heels and a beautiful camel bag. Try to keep your accessories very minimal and simple, so the attention stays on the main piece—the suit.” Below, she shares a few of her favorite hotspots in the city.
